If you’re wondering what to wear for your engagement photos and need some inspiration, you’re in the right place! Part of my job as a Bay Area engagement photographer is to help my clients choose the perfect outfits. My number one priority is that you feel comfortable and allow your personal style to shine through. However, I love giving inspo images to help my clients who book an engagement photoshoot with me. Beach Engagement Photos
If your engagement photoshoot is at the beach, make sure you’re wearing something you don’t mind getting a bit wet or sandy. There are two ways people generally go. One, you can go with the nature around you with blue and cream tones. Two, you can stand out with a pop of color like the vivid red dress below. This isn’t the time to wear heels – I recommend going barefoot or wearing sandals.
Field Engagement Photos
If your engagement photos are being taken in a field, I personally love color! Try a colorful outfit like the green dress and blue dress below. If bright colors aren’t for you, pick neutrals like white or cream.
Garden Engagement Photos
Whether you choose colorful patterned pieces or keep it simple, you know your photos will be vibrant with the location you chose! A garden is a great place to bring in a floral print. You could also choose a statement piece like the yellow pants below. There are plenty of masc and fem options.
Forest Engagement Photos
Being near the Santa Cruz redwoods means I take many engagement photos among the trees! It’s a bit shadier and moodier here. That means making sure you have enough light colors to balance out the darker ones is important.
I know that was a lot, but I believe more is more when it comes to inspiration for what to wear for engagement photos. As I said before, my number one goal when it comes to helping people choose outfits for their engagement photoshoot is to make sure they feel comfortable and true to themselves. These photos are about YOU, and should celebrate and uplift the ways in which you express yourself through clothing.
